Only the beginning..

Only the Beginning...

What are we doing world? What is wrong with us? Why are we so scared? Why the bloodshed? Who's to blame? I've never been one to have a silent mind, with great curiosity comes the burden of always wanting more answers and just plain more. Everyday now, and days past we have used one another as pawns; before you even stand on your moral high ground take a step back down and look up. What have we achieve over our existence, sure we have better medicine and better indoor plumbing; yeah we have rules these so called laws that separate from the animals but it seems to me we are no better.

As a collective organism we have caused more harm than good, we have bombed one another, exchanged blows and vile words; punished, tortured, invaded, stripped, enslaved, raped, murdered one another again and again. And yet, we have the audacity to keep going after all we have learned, after all we have experience we are no better than the lion who kills an antelope or the alligator who waits in the murky waters to snatch up the water buffalo in his most vulnerable time. This can't be us, we can't be the race that drops the ball, not now; not when we have a planet that is a sick, a up and coming generation, people out there who are in need of our help. We can't continue on like this, not if we want a better future. 

I was once told back in elementary school that just because two people don't like each other doesn't mean they can't co-exist. Haven't we seen enough hatred, haven't we spewed enough words, haven't we just learned anything from our past? How much more blood, horrible exchanges of words and actions can on species takes before we self-destruct? Yes, there are always going to be that one person with a different skin color, race, beliefs, and opinions. It isn't our job to target them, nor belittled them, it is our job to respect and treat others the way you want to be treated..why is it that adults carved this into children's minds but don't seem to practice it when they grow up?

When did the world become so cruel yet at the same time so soft? I'll tell you when, the day us as a community allowed one another to be so cruel and soft. WE as a people allowed borders to go up, WE as a people elected the wrong people in charge, WE as a people have lost our way... it's time to reflect and repent. It's time to take a step back and realize that we can no longer afford the war on ourselves. One day, you and I will be nothing but dust and ashes, our names will be forgotten just likes those who walked these paths before us. The irony is they have fought the same battles we encounter in today's society the only difference was they didn't have the perks we have.

I'm tired of having to apologize, I am tired of seeing my fellow woman and man get into a fight, I am tired of turning on my computer and being updated that another city was bombed, or another life was lost due to some ungodly reason. We are better than this, we have incredible creations; it doesn't matter what we wear, how we look, or what we may even want in life. What matters is that we contribute to helping one another. A simple Hello or a Thank you is only the beginning of something so much greater.
